The Zingaro Oriented Nature Reserve is a reserve managed by the Regional State Forestry Company of the Sicilian Region.
The Reserve extends in the western part of the Gulf of Castellammare, on the peninsula of San Vito Lo Capo which overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea between Castellammare del Golfo and Trapani (geographical coordinates: 38.104238°N 12.790833°ECoordinates: 38.104238°N 12.790833°E).
The territory falls largely within the municipality of San Vito Lo Capo and to a lesser extent within the municipality of Castellammare; it extends along 7 km of coastline and almost 1,700 ha of uncontaminated nature. The coast is made up of Quaternary calcarenites and Mesozoic limestone reliefs of dolomitic nature, with cliffs that slope steeply towards the sea from a maximum height of 913 m (Monte Speziale), interspersed with numerous coves.
